SuperDuper Gradebook is a HyperCard program for recording, computing, and maintaining classroom grades. It’s designed to combine maximum user control with ease of use. Each student record card contains space for four categories of student work: Assignments, Exams, Papers, and Final Exam. The first three of these can be renamed anything you like (e.g. Labs, Tests, Hershey Bars). Within those three categories, you can record grades for a virtually unlimited number of individual assignments.
The Gradebook will calculate letter grades from assigned numerical scores, or scores from assigned letter grades. It will calculate grades either on absolute scores or “on the curve”. It will drop the lowest howevermany scores from a category before averaging. It allows you to weight the various categories of work as percentages toward the final grade. It calculates class averages and grade distributions, and displays the latter both as percentages and as a graph. It allows you to “massage” computer-generated grade curves to make them work the way you want them to. It will import data from text files, and export data into text files, and so on. There is on-line help throughout, explaining how each feature works.
The full SuperDuper Gradebook package contains the Gradebook stack, an extensive tutorial, sample data files to work with, and a couple of free bonus stacks I put together for my own use. Altogether it is a pretty hefty package, even when compressed with StuffIt or Compact Pro. Thoughtful people have uploaded copies of SuperDuper Gradebook to various info services, including GEnie and American On-Line. However, I do not recommend that you download those, unless you have no other recourse. First, they will almost certainly not be the latest version of the program. Second, they may not be “virgin” but will contain settings and data not included in fresh copies. And third, they will cost you about an hour of download time at 2400 bps.
Instead, I recommend that you send me a formatted DS
(800k) diskette and self-addressed STAMPED return envelope, and I'll send you the latest version of the package. That will cost you a buck and a half or so for two-way postage, rather that $6 or $7 for download time. My address is:

SuperDuper Gradebook is shareware. It goes for $25. The copy you get before paying the fee is completely functional, but has an annoying habit of reminding the user to pay the shareware fee. When you pay up, I tell you how to get rid of the Annoying Messages. Hey, I gotta do something to stimulate movement, or you guys would keep on “intending to pay” forever.
